Versailles to Murakami: Get Out!

28 Oct

French noble Prince Sixte-Henri de Bourbon-Parme wants to initiate a court order to halt Takashi Murakami’s art exhibit in the Palace of Versailles for besmirching the “supreme good French taste” with “frankly grotesque” art. The descendent of Louis XIV says it’s “a provocation” and wants to restore “respect of the château and of [Louis XIV’s] ancestors.” Oh yeah, because there was nothing gaudy and disgusting about the Sun King, Louis XIV.

Kate Moss Models Her Last Topshop Line

28 Oct

The all too familiar black-and-white images of Kate Moss for Topshop have been released, showcasing the Moss’ fourteenth collection for the UK brand. Although familiar, this collection is reported as Moss’ last collection for Topshop with varying reports flying around on the possibility of her future involvement in the brand. The line itself looks pretty characteristic of Topshop’s product over the years, put impeccably by The Cut as “a little boho, a little weird, and a little trendy, with just the right amount of stuff hanging off that could catch on any errant object that brushes up against them.” Cheers to you, Kate Moss!

Hell’s Angels Sues Alexander McQueen

28 Oct

It seems the iconic Hell’s Angels better known for terrorizing small towns off desert highways in the Southwest is proving to be more than a little fashion savvy. According to the Financial Times, the infamous biker gang — err, “motorcycle club” — recently filed a lawsuit against high fashion brand Alexander McQueen for allegedly misusing their trademark “winged death head symbol.”

We’re not sure if  the trademark and patented skull symbol garlanding knuckle dusters, chiffon scarfs, cocktail dresses, and embossed clutches is damaging the integrity of the Hell’s Angels brand, or if they’re just characteristically looking for a fight and a cut of the money.
