Amy Winehouse Unveils Fred Perry Collabo Along with Three Years of Sobriety

7 Oct

Earlier this year, Amy Winehouse announced that she would be contributing her own designs to British sportswear firm Fred Perry. The troubled 26 year-old singer revisited this in the month’s issue of British Glamour, unveiling her designs for the collection. Wine-o also spoke candidly about her addiction problems and divorce from ex-husband and total winner Blake Fielder-Civil.

The once train-wreck told the U.K. edition that she hasn’t used drugs in three years, “I literally woke up one day and was like, ‘I don’t want to do this any more.’” Winehouse also discusses the evolution of her designs, most of which were conceived during her ex’s incarceration; “I went through a lot of trouble with my ex-husband, so I had such a long time to think about the collection.”

The British brand’s collaboration with Winehouse draws on much of the singer’s personal style, channeling a classic, vintage vibe. “I like ’40s and ’50s stuff. I played Rizzo in Grease when I was a kid at school, and I’ve always worn bowling shirts and things like classic trenchcoats,” she told Glamour. Winehouse modeled her looks for fellow singer Bryan Adams, who took his hand at playing photographer and shot the spread.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: the world needs Amy Winehouse.
