Emma Watson Lands British Vogue Cover

1 Nov

Harry Potter star Emma Watson continues to prove that she is all grown up. First last year’s very British London Burberry ads and now this month’s stunning Vogue UK cover, complete with a very adult pixie cut. The gold stars are reminiscent of J.K. Rowling-esque holiday magic, but I can’t help being reminded of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby (in a good way).

‘A Tartan Tale’: MAC Cosmetics Releases Holiday Collection

1 Nov

As the holiday shopping season draws near, a wealth of new collections and gift sets come flying into stores, some disappointing, some not-so-disappointing. Cosmetics brand MAC is no exception with their new Holiday 2010 collection, “A Tartan Tale.” And this one is so full and rich, add it to the “not-so-disappointing” column.

The tartan theme packaging channels “posh, punk, ancestral” plaid-lovers Alexander McQueen, the Sex Pistols, Vivienne Westwood, and Mel Gibson’s Braveheart.

The yuletide Holiday Colour Collection features new colors for eyes, lips, cheeks, and nails, embodied in seven new face palette looks trademark to MAC. MAC’s characteristic limited-edition kits are also included in Chapter 1: Lip, Eye, and Face Kits, as well as the bagpipe-inspired Chapter 1: Lip, Eye, and Brush Bags. Two new exclusives, “My Scottish Fling” and “MAC Glamorous Mineralize Kit,” capture the perfect colors for a flawless wintertime glow in mineral makeup formulas.

What’s more, MAC has also teamed-up with Kids Helping Kids, a nonprofit offering mentorship to underprivileged children, with an exclusive “Sir Teddy” stuffed animal and t-shirt.

Check-out the full collection on MAC’s official website.

Liu Wen is the First Asian Face of Estée Lauder

Last April, news got out that cosmetics empire Estée Lauder had signed Chinese model Liu Wen as their first Asian face. Last week, images for the classic french brand’s gorgeous new print ad campaign, guided under the creative direction of Tom Pecheux, were released online. Behold! The full campaign is set to debut in department stores and magazines worldwide next spring. Yay for breaking down barriers!

Scarlett Johannson and Olivia Palermo for Mango Fall and Winter ’10

1 Nov

Two new ad campaigns from Spanish brand Mango were released today for the Fall-Winter ’10 shopping season featuring reality TV’s Olivia Palermo and the alway-sultry Scarlett Johannson.

Fall ‘1o features two shots of Olivia Palermo and her beau, German model Johannes Huebl, enjoying a mundane-yet-glamourous life. You know, eating dinner, walking up some stairs…

Clearly the real news here, of course, is Scarlet Johannson’s spread — six shots of the film siren decked-out in Mango’s Winter ’10 collection. Need I say more?

Palermo and Johannson definitely lend an air of old-world class and superiority in both campaigns, making the Fall and Winter lines seem more sumptuous than ever. Check out the rest of the ads after the jump… Continue reading

Fall to Winter: Thigh-Highs and Flannel Booties

1 Nov

Seems like a switch went off in New York’s weather today when the calendar turned to November 1st. If you’ve been outside, you were no doubt accosted with the fact that it is, indeed, the colder weeks of fall. And it’s only going to get colder.

Hats and gloves are the obvious choices, but this season I’d like to keep cozy with these Modcloth thigh-high socks ($19.99) and Dayton flannel booties ($315) featured on the Lipstick Diaries. They won’t go with everything, but can be worn well with a good sense of coordination.
